Manu National Park - Cultural Zone
In this adveture tour we take you to the cloud forest of the eastern slopes of Manu National Park, and to the upper lowland forest (around 500 - 600m altitude). Great for bird and monkey observation such as (Cock of the rock, oropendolas, parrots, Macaws and quetzals ) Also suitable for families with younger children.
Program Itinerary
Day 1: CUSCO – AMAZON PONA LODGE
Our adventure into the Jungle of Manu start with picking you up around 5:30 AM, from your Hotels in Cusco, using the service of our private Manu Wildlife Tours transport. The first part of our excursion is will take us through the majestic Andean mountains and andean villages. Before mit-day we arrive at the entrance of Manu National Park, the access point to one of the most protected natural areas in South America. From here we will continue into the Cloud Forest and at Fog forest we will explore for around 4 hours to observe the Peruvian National bird, the cock of the rock, the second biggest monkey in Peru (woolly monkeys) and to appreciate different types of bromeliads and beautiful orchids, and in a lucky day we might encounter the Andean Bear (Tremarctos ornatus) and many others exotic birds like Blue-banded Tucanet, Golden-headed Quetzal and Crested Quetzal, then We arrive to our selected Amazon Pona Lodge. In the evening, we'll walk into the jungle, (night expedition) to see tarantulas, different types of spiders, poisonous frogs, tree frogs, snakes, night monkeys, Giant armadillos and boas. (B, L)
Day 2: AMAZON PONA LODGE (Swimming, sport fishing and exploration day)
After an early breakfast, we will explore the deep part of the jungle using the trail system till around mid day always with our rubber boots, On the way we will see many different kinds of animals such as brown capuchin monkeys, squirrel monkeys, collared peccaries and birds such as eagles, parrots, macaws and toucans, and medicinal plants, We will also visit a small Lake where we will take a wooden balsa and see varieties of wildlife such as the prehistoric Hoatzin bird, Cormorants, Herons and Martin king fisher. After the lunch we might also have time to swim and fish in the river. In the afternoon we return to the Inca capital Cusco, and drop off at your hotel. (B, L)
