Native Community of Santa Rosa de Huacaria
The Native Community of Santa Rosa de Hucaria is an indigenous gorup Machiguenga and Wachipaeri, whose ancestral land is located on the right bank of the Huacaria river of the Kosñipata district, in the Manu Park.
This community offers spend an entire day with community members experiencing their day to day life with activities such as fishing, farming,walks, traditional food and craftsmanship.
This Native Community was formed in 1976 when the Peruvian government has the Native Communities Law, which stipulated that all the indigenous peoples of the Amazon had right to form communities, to delimit their lands and, in turn, obtaining the formal and legal recognition of territorial rights.
The legal title of 36.806.25 hectares of land was granted to the community both banks of the Huacaria River.

Manu National Park - Cultural Zone
This trip features a visit to the Manu Biosphere Reserve and the Native Community of Santa Rosa de Huacaria, is a chance to share and interact with the members of this native community settle in the area, we will be able to observe the wonderful wildlife and we will approach the principles of the Amazonian indigenous culture.
In this trip you have a chance to share with the members of the community and to explore on the forest’s trails, rivers and lakes, surrounded at all times by a tropical forest habitat, in the company of an expert naturalist guide. This trip is highly recommended for families, and also with small children.
Program Itinerary
Day 1: CUSCO – AMAZON PONA LODGE
Our adventure into the Jungle of Manu start with picking you up around 5:30 AM, from your Hotels in Cusco, using the service of our private Manu Wildlife Tours transport. The first part of our excursion is will take us through the majestic Andean mountains and andean villages. Before mit-day we arrive at the entrance of Manu National Park, the access point to one of the most protected natural areas in South America. From here we will continue into the Cloud Forest and at Fog forest we will explore for around 3 hours to observe the National bird of Peru, the cock of the rock, the biggest monkey in Peru (woolly monkeys) and to observe different types of bromeliads and beautiful orchids, then We arrive to our selected Amazon Pona Lodge. In the evening, we'll walk into the jungle, (night expedition) to see tarantulas, different types of spiders, poisonous frogs, tree frogs, snakes, night monkeys, Giant armadillos and boas. (B, L)
Day 2: AMAZON PONA LODGE – SOGA DE ORO LODGE (swimming, sport fishing, visiting lake and exploration day)
We will wake up early in the morning with the singing of the Amazonian birds and after breakfast have the chance to walk along the high forest visiting the local agricultures like coca plants, bananas, pineapples, etc. From Atalaya we leave by motorized boat to our lodge, After lunch we will explore the jungle for several hours and see different tipys of wildlife , as squirrels monkeys, brown capuchin monkeys and howler monkeys, birds such as eagle, Macaws,woodpeckers, toucans, flycatcher, and kingfisher etc. Many different kinds of plants and medecin plants.
In the afternoon we will visit Machuwasi Lake where we will take a balsa raft and see the pre-historic Hoatzin bird, watch the beautiful sunset,(included night expeditions) to see tarantulas, different types of spiders, poisonous frogs, tree frogs, snakes, alligators, night monkeys, armadillos and boas.
We will spend the night in our rustic at Soga de Oro Lodge. (B, L, D)
Day 3: PARROT CLAY LICK – NATIVE COMMUNITY
We start early and take our motor boat to the small colpa (wall of clay lick) is located in the river bank, where hundred noisy species of parakeets, parrots and small macaws come to feed on mineral soil and salt supplement that they find in this clay, and then we go to visit the Huararia native community, today we will have the opportunity to share in the daily life of one of the few communities that have managed to conserve the ancestral culture of the Matchiguenga people. The villagers will show us how they live in harmony with nature and conserve their environment, also We will learn about their life style, their customs and activities like weaving, making and use of bow and arrows, etc.
(Optional night walk) We will spend the night in our rustic at Amazon Pona Lodge. (B, L, D)
Day 4: AMAZON PONA LODGE - CUSCO
After an early breakfast, we will explore the trail system at the lodge around 2 hours, then we return to the Inca capital Cusco, and drop off at your hotel. (B, L)
